Midsummer Day Wedding

Feel like a Greek goddess without buying an expensive gown!

An infinity dress can be styled in so many ways that you would definitely feel like you're getting your money's worth with every piece you buy. This, among many other practical reasons, is why I decided to use infinity dresses for my wedding entourage.

I decided to wear the infinity dress I bought online to a friend's wedding so I could experience how it would feel like before making my entourage go through the same thing.

The challenge was to find the right undergarment.

The key is to decide what style you want first and decide on the undergarment later. For this particular occasion, I decided to go for the cross back style because it was fairly easy to do and it felt the most comfortable for me (since my infinity dress did not come with a matching bandeau).

It is important to pick an infinity dress with good quality fabric as well. The problem is that many suppliers out there sell infinity dresses with thin fabric. They tend to be so thin that even seamless undergarments do not help. This is why i decided to get my own fabric and have a seamstress make the infinity dresses for me. This way, I would have more control over the color and quality of the fabric. And if you buy your fabric in Divisoria, it becomes cheaper too.

To accessorize, I chose the Hunter Gatherer necklace from Summer Soul Gypsy, one of my favorite boho-inspired online shops.

I love this necklace because it can be used for many other outfits as well (which I would probably show in later blog posts). Plus, I chose a color combination that is perfect for the humid temperature here in the Philippines.

What I loved most about this outfit is the fact that it looked really good for both outdoor and indoor photo shoots. Perfect for wedding photoshoots! Below are the shots taken inside the hotel wedding reception venue of my friend's wedding.

Would you wear an infinity dress?  If yes, how would you style your infinity dress?

Do you think it is a good idea to let your wedding entourage wear infinity dresses? I would love to know your opinion! Leave a comment and tell me what you think!

Personal Style: Dainty and Sweet

I've always had way too many floral pieces in my wardrobe - which, in my opinion, isn't really a bad thing. Teehee! But because I wanted to change things up a bit, I decided to go for the Hailey skirt from Shop Thrift Market.

I love this particular skirt because even though the print was predominantly tropical, it still had some floral elements incorporated into its design. To complete the outfit, I decided to wear the Dianne overlap top from Tiangge Queen, one of the most affordable online shops I've ever come across to date.

The Dianne overlap top is made of good quality material and its overlap design is unexpected yet undeniably feminine at the same time. Plus, the lightweight feel of the Hailey skirt added a dainty touch to the entire ensemble.

Of course, no outfit is complete without matching perfume! For this particular look, I decided to spritz on Miss Belle from Sophia Love PH. I have to say, the scent of Miss Belle is perfect for this look!

Miss Belle's sweet floral scent lingers on your skin and makes you feel like you are floating on air amidst a field of fresh smelling flowers. The perfect scent for this sweet and dainty look!

What do you guys think of this look? Would you wear something like this? Please leave a comment below because I would really love to know!

Again, thank you all so much for reading and I hope you have a thrifty day! ^_^

Personal Style: Monochrome Stripes

I've been seeing black and white everywhere.

Literally.

And though I am usually against the grain when it comes to my personal style, I decided to try it out. Even more so because my current mood wasn't very colorful lately due to personal troubles.

But I digress. Let's just move on...

I really adore the quality and style of this pencil skirt from Pink Boudoir. The front slit also adds a little hint of sexiness, but still keeping it modest! Leave some to the imagination, ladies!

I kept this outfit interesting by adding stripes and textures to the mix. And the cute little dreamcatcher necklace from Pretty Little Blings is a nice touch too!

The stripes on the top also extends to the straps on my feet, and little details like that keep me from getting bored with what I'm wearing.

To match the front slit of the skirt, there's a little peek at the elbow part of the top as well!

And just a little secret between us… I only wrapped this sweater around my waist to cover unsightly bulges of my Coke belly because the skirt is quite form fitting. (But let's all pretend it's because I wanted to go for that 90's flare! Hihihi!)

What did you guys think of this look? Did you like it? Please leave a comment below and let me know!

Again, thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a thrifty day! ^_^

Personal Style + Movie Feels: Rurouni Kenshin Inspired

Once upon a time, I was an otaku.

Not just any otaku…..

I was an otaku hipster! (Bro fist to those who got the Pewdie Pie reference! Lol!)

#iwatchedanimebeforeitwascool

Back when I was still a preteen (approx. 1995 or earlier), my sister and I enjoyed watching numerous random anime on Sky Cable. English subtitled anime did not exist on television at the time, so we had to watch anime without any translation.

It was so bad that even manga did not have English translations! You had to read them with the manga on one hand and printed translations on the other. (High five to those who experienced this! Lol!)

Knowing the 'medieval age of anime' that I grew up in, imagine our excitement when Philippine local channels finally began showing more anime on local TV!

One of my favorite shows back in the day was definitely "Samurai X" or more commonly known as "Rurouni Kenshin."

And as you all know, the live-action Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno was recently released here in the Philippines. Needless to say, I was very excited to watch it! So excited that I even dressed up for the occasion! Lol!

When I received this maxi dress courtesy of Cruella and Co, the first thing that crossed my mind was that the color reminded me so much of Kenshin's hakama!

People might think I was going to a party instead of a movie in this outfit, but I do have my own reasons for wearing it. After all, I wanted to wear a Rurouni Kenshin inspired outfit, so never mind what they think! Wear what you want! Hihi!

To match the theme I was going for, I used my Terranova leather kimono belt (giving a kimono feel to the overall look) and a gray skull scarf to accessorize.

The skull scarf totally matched this live action movie (which, by the way, was super awesome! The highlight of the movie was definitely its jaw-dropping fight scenes!)

The Cruella and Co Tankxi dress is made of good quality jersey stretch material. The flow of the maxi dress was really nice too, so wearing it made me feel like I was wearing a kimono (just like the characters in the movie!)

It was like a pseudo-immersive movie experience for me, but without the cosplay!

Speaking of the movie, I suggest that you guys go and watch "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno" for yourself! Avoid reading the movie rave reviews. (Save that for later, after watching the film! Hehe!)

You'd be amazed at how this movie was directed, how the actors and actresses portrayed their roles (Okina is real! Lol!), and how realistic yet mind-blowing the action scenes were!

As for me, I think nostalgia had a lot to do with what I felt about this movie. Some die-hard fans may even have their own little complaints about the movie. But overall, I think everyone involved in the making of this film did justice to the entire anime/manga franchise.

It was definitely worth the money I paid for!

How about you? What did you think of the movie? What about my Rurouni Kenshin inspired outfit? Did you watch anime when you were still young too? Please leave a comment below because I would love to know!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a thrifty day!

Personal Style: Back to the 90s

One of my very first fashion inspirations came from an American teen 90's sitcom called "Clarissa Explain It All."

The show follows the life of a normal teenager named Clarissa Darling as she literally explains to the audience her thoughts about typical pre-adolescent concerns like school life, boys, acne, etc. Sort of like a video blog.

Clarissa did vlogs before it was cool! :D

I can't really remember how old I was when I first encountered this show, but I do remember how much I loved it. In fact, I loved it so much that it literally affected the way I dressed for several years until college. (On a side note, I totally shipped Clarissa and Sam in that show! Lol!)

Incidentally, today was the perfect day to post an outfit with this color scheme!

This particular outfit reminded me so much of the fashion in that show, which was totally 90's! Of course, I added some of my own personal touches, and the Farah skirt in yellow from Shop Thrift Market was perfect for it!

The origami cut out of the skirt added a little bit of quirkiness needed to complete my overall look. I still have a couple of outfit ideas that would look good with this skirt, and I'm really looking forward to wearing this again!

The Farah skirt from Shop Thrift Market also comes in other colors as well, and it would be a nice piece to have in your wardrobe so you could spruce up an outfit and make it more interesting!

Last but not the least, I rocked this look wearing the black creepers bought from Projectshoephoria (as if I didn't have enough creepers already, lol!)

I love these creepers because they looked like the "bulldog shoes" that was so "in" when I was still in Grade School. I really wanted to wear bulldog shoes at the time, but it was prohibited in my school. So yeah, now I'm wearing it! Yolo, y'know! Wear what you want! Lol!

What did you think of this look? Did you watch "Clarissa Explains It All" before too? Please leave a comment below because I would really love to know!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a thrifty day!

Personal Style: Sheer Aztec and Lace

To be honest, blogging about my personal style never crossed my mind when I first started this blog.

The reason for this is because whenever I think about what to wear, I never actually think it through -- I just simply experiment with what I have and see what looks good on me.

This habit came from the fact that most of my clothes growing up were hand-me-downs given by family members. So you could just imagine the randomness of the clothes I receive in terms of style. ^^;

However, this particular outfit changed my mind because I realized that I had a bit more to say about it than my usual outfits. (Just a little bit, hehe!)

Let's start by talking about this unique Jermaine pullover that I bought from From the Racks, my favorite online thrifting shop to date.

I absolutely love the Aztec-like lace detail on the paneled sleeves of this pull over. It's so unique that I even have a hard time describing it. ^^; All I know is whenever I wear this, I can be absolutely sure that no one else would be wearing the same thing as I am. ^_^

To compliment the detailing on the pullover and to elongate my body as well, I wore my wish bone and Deathly hallows silver necklaces from Pretty Little Blings and the Veritaserum necklace gifted by Happy Organism.

And of course, because the typhoon season is here again, I wore these flood-proof wedge creepers that I bought from Scene Stealer (super affordable at only 700 pesos or 16 USD when converted, shipping included!) It was a great deal for these babies, if you ask me! :D

And as if the detailing wasn't enough, I also decided to wear my gray Aztec socks bought from Forever 21 to match the overall look!

What do you think of this look? ^_^ Do you think I should blog more about my personal style? Please leave a comment below to let me know!
